Plants to help clean the air in your home !

This is what I have in my bathroom to help clean the air. I have philodendron growing in two big pots at the front of our house and I have cut some and put into a vase of water. This is so much easier then an actual pot-plant that needs soil..This has been in my bathroom for a few years now and seems to be thriving..When you cut them and place them in water they grow roots very quickly, which can be great if you want to pot some up for a gifts...I have read so many times over the years how plants remove toxins from our air ...and give us oxygen in return..I also have two lucky bamboos growing in water in my bathroom too..I really need to get some more plants into our house...I used to have a ficus inside but took it outside might bring it back in ..I'd love to hear what house plants other people grow inside ...There was a list of 10 that I did read some time back that are the best to have in your home, must see if I can find it gain ...To save me googling if any one knows please post and share with us..That would be great ....I know spider plants are supposed to be good too, a long time ago I used to grow that outside in hanging baskets..and bamboo is good too...My mother in law grows mother in laws tongue in her family room it always looks so healthy , she grows it in water ...Might see if she will give me some ...I gave her a lucky bamboo years ago for a gift and hers is huge..she has a real green thumb..think she could grow anything...

Cover Over Washing Line !

Cover over washing line !
I don't know if others have this problem, when I hang my white sheets on the line I get little orange brown coloured insect droppings on my sheets . I find it really annoying, I have been thinking about getting a cover to go over the line for some years now ! You cannot rush these things lol ! My Nana gave my two eldest sons some linen when she had a clean out , I noticed a pink shower curtain I thought perfect that will do the job nicely and its free even better ! When you live in the bush you encounter more problems with insects and animals  then when living in suburbia ! Obviously  they must drop their dropping on my other clothes as well but I've never noticed it . I only notice it on my white sheets and it stands out like dogs "you know whats" ! It rained lightly the other day and it saved my washing getting wet so that was an added bonus ! I'm pretty sure they drop their droppings as they fly over my washing ! So I hope it works, time will tell !

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera !
It grows like crazy in my back yard !
I believe every household should grow it ,either in a pot if short on space or in the garden like I do !
It has so many uses, for sunburn ,skin problems !
There is so much information written about Aloe Vera .I have brought it to take internally , but I have never taken what I grow internally , I should slice some up and put into my juices and smoothies !I'll do a bit more research !The succulent Aloe Vera plant, known to botanists as Aloe Barbadensis, is rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids, and has long been prized for the cosmetic and medicinal qualities of the gel found in its leaves. Australia offers ideal conditions for growing Aloe Vera, with its rich soil and warm, sunny climate.

Historical documents of the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Arabians, Indians and Chinese report on its use for both medicinal and cosmetic uses.
Legend has it that two of the most alluring Egyptian queens, Nefertiti and Cleopatra, relied on Aloe Vera to maintain their youthful complexions, by drinking and bathing in Aloe Vera, and that Alexander the Great conquered the island of Socroto off the east coast of Africa for the purpose of obtaining sufficient amounts of Aloe as a wound healing agent for his soldiers.
The ‘miracle’ of Aloe Vera is in its ability to deliver over 200 essential health promoting nutrients directly into cells. If the cells are healthier, quality of life is greater.

Recommended adult dosage 60 - 120mL daily in water or fruit juice.

Today, doctors also recognise Aloe's powerful healing properties both externally and internally. Dr Ivan Danhof, known as the ‘father of Aloe Vera' is an internationally renowned medical scientist who has devoted his life work to research and education of the healing properties of Aloe. Pro-Ma Systems Aloe Juice is the direct result of consultation with Dr Danhof.
Standards set by Dr Danhof resulted in a juice, which is cold processed, micro pulp retained, filleted inner gel, with an active polysaccharides count of 1200-2000 mg per litre.
Aloe Vera contains over 200 active ingredients in nature's most bio available form, including:
Polysaccharides;Glucomannans including Acemannan.
20 out of 22 Amino Acids.
8 Enzymes.
Vitamins including A, C, E, B6, B12, and Folate.
Minerals including Calcium, Copper, Chromium, Magnesium, Zinc, Iron, Potassium, Sodium, Manganese and Germanium.
The miracle of Aloe Vera is in its ability to deliver these essential health promoting nutrients directly into cells.
Good health starts with healthy digestion, good nutrition and Aloe Juice. If the cells are healthier, quality of life is greater.
Aloe Juice may assist symptoms of: Arthritis, Asthma, Acne, Dermatitis, Psoriasis, High Cholesterol, Ulcers, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Constipation, Eczema, Rheumatism, Digestive complaints, Eczema, Colds and Flu, Burns, Sunburn, Liver Toxicity, Gastric Conditions.
Note: I've just started harvesting my own aloe vera why spend money buying it when I have it growing in my garden and I can have it fresh every day ! I sliced off a large leaf and cut about an inch & a half off, then I cut off the outer green skin and put the jelly part into blender for my green morning smoothie !

Kitchen Scrap Bucket

Kitchen Scrap Bucket !
This is our kitchen scrap bucket for all our scraps !
It was an old nappy bucket that was last used for that purpose nearly 8 years ago ! We line it with news paper and fill with scraps, when filled we dig a hole in the garden and bury it.
We have too many scraps for our worm farm so we use both . If you are about to plant a fruit tree put a bucket of scraps in the hole then the tree, great fertilizer for the tree !

Free Fertilizer For Your Garden

Weed Tea !
Every one has weeds in their garden , Especialy after the rain , I wonder where they all come from you turn your back and there they are again . So when I pull our weeds out ( not very often but when I do )I put them in either a bucket or I have a extra wheelie bin I half fill with weeds then fill with water , but this time of year let the rain fill it up for free. Then I put the lid down or cover bucket, leave for about 6 weeks and then after that bucket it out as required to fertilize your garden , fruit trees, herbs, vegetables or indoor plants. Then put the weed mater around your fruit trees good mulch .It's great for our garden and great for our wallets.
Note: If you were to make it now it will be ready for spring!  Happy gardening !
