Save The Water From Cooking Pasta For Another Use !

Reuse Water That You Have Cooked Pasta In.
Yesterday I cooked a packet of spaghetti and when I went to drain it I thought why waste the water down  the drain when I'm sure I could use it for something else. So I drained it over a bowl and waited till a little cooler and poured it into 2 jars and put into the fridge until I cook and then use it for something else. One jar has 370 mils I will use that to replace the water when making a loaf of bread tomorrow and today I made pastry as I'm making meat and vegetable pasties and I used 100mils in the pastry recipe in place of the water. What else could you use it for, perhaps add to soups and  casseroles, you can really use it in place of liquid in just about anything from cakes, muffins etc...Does any one else do this ! is it something you would do !
I'm sure where ever there is an extreme water shortage they would find another use for it ...Would love to hear from others please post and leave a comment ....

Recycle Water When Showering !

Recycle Water When Showering !
As we have a shortage of water because lightning hit our rain water tank earlier this year, as our whole house is reliant on that water, we need to be very careful. So a few weeks ago I remembered we had a big plastic tub in the shed that we used to bath Kev's dogs in when they were alive. I cleaned it really well and put it under the shower to catch all the rain water and then bucket it out and use it to water our garden, mostly all my potted herbs. You could also use it to flush your toilets. We usually use bore water for the toilets. A great way to recycle your shower water, when it's filled it holds about 30 litres another way to save water is to get out before it's filled up !  My son Jack loves it he will sit in it and have a shower come bath. Just another way to save our precious water !

Water To Precious To Waste !

Water is to precious to waste ! We live on a 25 acre property out of town (semi rural ) and we rely on all our own water supply. All our house is connected to our rain water tank .
In my kitchen sink I have a basin that I wash our dishes in , then I empty the water onto our plants/garden. Then I rinse in the smaller side of the sink ,just while writing this I'm thinking to myself might see if I can purchase a smaller one for the small side of the sink . This one in photo we brought at bunnings about 18 months ago . I saw them for sale the other day at woolworths for $7.99. We also have one  in each of the showers that we use in the summer to collect water then water the plants. The handles on each side make it so easy to carry and when not in use they can be hung up on hooks!
