Cover School Books For free !

These are Jack's Lovely covered school books for year 3 !
On his book list they ask for all their books to be covered with contact . Well I'm trying to be as green as possible and trying to avoid using more plastics (I wish our school was green in their thinking but they are not at all). So I will decide what I cover them with . As Jack loves drawing I asked him if he would like to draw some lovely pictures and we would stick them on the front of his books . The cost is free, way better for the environment  and they are original designs that he had great joy in drawing and colouring and he feels really proud of his covers for his books. I think they are great way better then any thing I could purchase from the shops.

  1. Yes i agree.. I don't know why they expect everything to be contacted. Especailly when they are in primary school they don't bring them home alot to get ruined.. I think i may bring this point up at the next P & F meeting.

  2. Hi Donna that's a great idea I may mention it to a friend who is on the P&C committee at our school! I'd like to see our school become greener. People don't seem to be very green in our area!

  3. It's a few years before Josh will be starting school but I will be rocking the boat as well and covering his books with his own artwork!

  4. Great idea :-) I guess its to help stop them getting ripped (or the temptation of the kids to rip them!). Wonder if material would work as well...maybe some plain material then they can still decorate...and you could potentially reuse by unsticking it as the books get filled.

  5. Hi Bungle , that's also another great idea You could use plain calico and let the kids decorate them ...You could maybe sew them and use as slip on covers ...In all my years myself as a child I would cover all my school books in brown paper which I always really enjoyed I never had a ripped book .but just depends on the kids I guess.
