Here is my completed recycled clock !
I made this clock from recycling an old rusty flat pan that I found in my street on the kerb ready for the kerb side rubbish pick up .That was early last year and when I saw it and I thought that would make a great out side clock. I would love to know what it was, if any one can shed any light as to what it is I would be really grateful, I think it's made from cast iron and as you can see from the photo it has a handle only on one side, there is a hole near the number 6 that was also in it . Kev thinks it's a lid of some type. Kev drilled a hole in the middle for the hands and the clock movement is at the back which you just push through and attach the hands very easy. The numbers and hands we brought from cost plus clock movement cost $11.95 and numbers and hands cost $6.50 as I could only get black numbers in 20mm and with the dark back ground of the clock you couldn't hardly see them so after a little thinking ,I decided to cut white circles from an old ice cream lid and stick the self adhesive numbers on to the circles then I used double sided self adhesive and stuck them on to the clock face. The clock is on my outside wall and really easy to see from most of the back yard . I'm really happy with how it turned out, I used to have a terracotta clock there, but DP dropped it when changing the battery and broke it just before Christmas. The one before that also got broken about 8 years ago with my boys playing football . This one looks pretty indestructible which is great and another recycling project made from another man's rubbish ! I love that saying "One man's rubbish is another man's treasure ! How true that is !
This is the plastic ice cream container lid that I traced circles with pencil and cut them out with scissors.
It real came out nice, Coffee is on.
